Actually the water should do the trick. That should be a gum based glue and only water will disolve it. Alcohol or dish soap might cut some oil and allow the water to get to the glue but water given time should do it. If there is an oil or grease base to the glue then acetone or fingernail polish remover (if there is a missus around) may work. I would use distilled water if it is going to remain on the surface for awhile.

I never needed nor liked those spots.
