I checked. You're right the band around the end of the tube is riveted on. But it it has the ring you described.

I'll have to meditate on disassembly awhile. I suspect a replacement ring would cost an arm&leg from TeleVue. I was quoted about $150 to buy the Pronto mounting ring. I'm not in the mood to rob any liquor stores this week.

Thanks for the detailed instructions, it's very helpful. After I take the objective apart, I'll be ready for brain surgery. ;-)
