I am tempted to cut a 12" circle but I know the larger the mirror, the smaller the chances of a beginner making it a good one. Also I would want to make the cell/support myself and am not sure if it's reasonable to expect the new ATM'er to be able to make a decent cell for a 12"x3/4" mirror.

Also, there is a guy in my area that will silver my mirror for $8. I was reading that silvering causes the defects of the mirror to be more pronounced than aluminum. Would it be a good idea to polish the back of the mirror as well?

Thanks
