The problem with 5 micron grit is that it allows the mirror to get too dry too fast. The dryness is pretty much what causes the sleeks as the grit and glass want to cement together and cause the problem. At least, that's what I've been able to figure out. Commercial shops use a continous flow of grit and water and thus tend not to have the problem.
Add in some detergent to the water and do shorter sessions and you will probably be able to get rid of the sleeks in a single wet.
