I use 80 grit just because it goes faster. Pregenerated blanks are more spherical than the hand hogged out holes so 220 grit is also a useful starting point. The thing that you will find is that the tiles will probably be in full contact at the same time that the grooves are fully out of the mirror. You still have to curve the tiles when you put them on the tool and they all have to have the same height when you do so and the tiles on top of the plaster (or you end up with epoxy running down onto the mirror) is a bit less accurate than casting them into the shape directly. |
