First Time Mirror Grinding

I just completed initial rough grinding on my 8" F/8 mirror. I have reached my sagitta depth of 1/16" and have proceeded according to Texereau. At this point I'm not sure where to go. In his book he says to proceed with the use of a "centered stroke of very large amplitude" to finish the rough grinding to get rid of the ledge on the outside of the mirror and the ledge on the center of the tool. Am I making this too complicated? Do I simply go up and down with a centered stroke until the ledges are gone and I have a perfect sphere or use the "normal stroke" (W pattern) until the ledges are gone. I have read on the internet about using just the normal stroke to finish rough grinding.
