I am building a pair of 10" binoculars. The top of the tubes are square and made of Birch. They are complete but I am looking for a way to attach my diagonals to the tops in a way that is a)inexpensive and b)decent looking. I have looked in the hardware stores and I can get white plastic plumbing fittings that I can secure to the wood that go down to 1 1/4 inch but they look horrible. I would prefer some kind of metal but it looks as if I would have to get it milled and I dont want to put that much money in to this. Anyone have any bright ideas? Thanks in advance.
