Alternative To Formica

I have heard countless tales of using formica for the bearing surface for dob mounts. I just built a dob mounted F6 8" scope and used leftover pergo flooring for the bearing. It works great. It is a laminate just like formica, very hard and slippery if something like teflon is used on the mating piece.
