I was just passing through here and noticed your post. Just to let you know, there is an 8" Klevzov Cassegrain made by the Russian company Sovietski and distributed by ITE in Florida that seems a remarkable instrument. It's called the TAL 200K It's photographic application potential particularly interests me. More sharpness and contrast than an SCT and because it uses a low profile focusser there's NO mirror flop. The trade off? Not quite as much focal length (something like 1750mm) and it's hard to get upgrades for the beast - dec motors, PEC, and the like. Anyway, check it out. Maybe you'll find info there useful.

R.B.
