It's ok for it to prodrude a little, but not more than the mirror side clearance in the tube. Otherwise it will intercept the incoming light cone causing loss of light and diffraction effects. Look at a defocused star image when the focuser is racked in fully and see if you can see the image of the focuser tube in the star pattern. |
