For a 12 lb scope I feel that the CG5 is the way to go. Clean the Chinese grease (glue?) off the innards and you'll have a smooth mount. Replace
the aluminum legs with oak and you'll have a first
class mount. It may be some effort, but remember
that the equivqlent Vixen mount is about $1000.
One thing though, use the Vixen controllers and
motors . They are far superior and stronger than the Celestron (Chinese) versions.
