Well I understand Kydex is textured on one side and ABS comes smooth or textured one side. Anyway A guy had a commercial dew shield that was supposed to be Kydex and he bought a piece of ABS for his second scope and we couldn't tell the difference. Then a clerk at a plastic supply house in response to my direct question affirmed that textured ABS and Kydex were chemically the same. It was he that said Kydex was just a brand name for ABS.

I always like to know for sure though just to be correct. Even if not, I have used the ABS for much longer than anyone was selling Kydex products. I am even thinking of building a light weight ABS boat this summer.

Cheers,
-Rick
