Thanks for the words. Please give me your opinions on this. As I have not purchased the optics yet, given equal quality materials, which design would better suit my needs. I am an excited novice. I own an Orion 80mm short tube f5 scope now and I think I am going to get into astronomy. I was planning on building an EQ mounted f5 6" reflector (which you already commented on). Would an f8 Dob be a better choice for me? I want a scope that will blow my kids minds. I don't care about the differences in size or portability. I just want to build the best performing scope for the money. This all assumes that I design the thing right, but I am getting comfortable with Newt 2.5 and there is plenty of help with people like yourselves. |
