I have felt using a silver base was the better way to go. Several have argued with me for the simple reason and no other, that that is the not way certain well known mirror makers claim thier mirrors are coated. One I believe mentioned here claims to use around fifty layers with no base metal.

In essence you have vindicated a position I took on that about two months ago. Thanks. I cetainly believe a siver coat with as few layers of dialectric overcoats as possible would provide the sharpest images and least scatter contrary to advertised claims.

Thats what mine machine did. Your readings are higher than you can get off your standards isn't it?
