I too have an interest. I almost bought a kiln nearly a year ago. Been shopping ever since. Most deals seem to be in New York and I know that you do not want to ship a used kiln.

Steve, I think you may be looking at more power than you are suggesting. Straie and bubbles after melt are removed by stirring with very expensive tools or so I am told. Precise loading is first choice. Gas fired may be the best way to go for Borosilicate. Both are too expensive right now in California.
