Barnesite is a mixture of cerium oxide and radioactive thorium oxide if i remember correctly,i knew an optician here in tucson who passed away a few years ago,he was a member of the team that made the 4-meter mirror for the mayall scope on kitt peak, they used barnesite, and all these guys are dead now from stomach and/or lung cancer from breathing in the fine particles of this polishing agent.
They didnt realize at the time the long term effects of breathing in this stuff.
Universal photonics inc. in hicksville NY,sells
barnesite ,but i doubt it is the same stuff, either no thorium or very little added to cerium oxide. go with rouge, break it up in a rock tumbler with water and steel ball bearings for a few hours prior to useing.
