This has been my dream(one of several actually)
i think this is a little out of reach right now.
this involves making a mold from aluminosilicate fiber, loading mold with chunks of fine anneal borosilicate glass and melting in a firebrick furnace at around 2250F,with a very gradual decrease in temperature over a relatively long period of time, the electric heating elements in this system would draw an incredible amount of electrical power,to do it right i think you need a shop, 220v outlets, alot of fire bricks, heating elements, money, etc.
you can buy sheets of 7740 pyrex by corning for only(HA! HA!) around $1500 for a 25" X 40" X 2" thick{25X60 is one size they stock) i think this is what is used as the remelt material especially for the ribbed lightweight so called "cellular mirror blanks

',these are cut-up with a diamond saw
and loaded into a mold.
