Thanks for the info, i found my diffusion pump on ebay,ive been looking for a refridgeration service pump, i think this will work as the backing pump because ive read that these pumps produce a pretty high vacuum .001-.0001 torr,
as far as the bell jar goes, after what crockett said about implosion ,which i had already thought about using an implosion shield, but im leaning more toward using a commercially made bell jar, ive done a yahoo search and found a few companys selling surplus bells for $600 to several thousand
,im hoping to find a small one,perhaps 13" diameter X 20" tall give or take a few inch's for around $200-$300(used),im going to try an build this for under $1000,i have the power supply's also.
