Hi, My name is Larry Alvarez. I am building a reflector telescope and I am having a little trouble figuring out what distance I should place the mirror surface of the primary mirror (large one) from the secondary mirror (small diagnol). I have been unable to correctly calculate the distance. Every formula I find online gives me different results. Here are the specs of my scope.
Tube length: 38 inches
Distance from center of focuser to top of tube 6 1/4 inch.
Diameter of tube: 10 1/2 inch
Tube thickness: 3/8 inch
Primary Mirror specs: 8 inch diameter,1" thick, f4.5
Secondary Mirror spec: 1.83" , oval diagonal mirror
I have already mounted the focuser and secondary mirror (diagnol mirror) based on one of the first formulas I tried but I have yet to mount the primary mirror (8 inch diameter mirror). Any help anyone out there could give would be most welcome. Thanks a million,
