(Mircea e-mail me at karaoke@pei.sympatico.ca )

..as this is a telescope making topic I`m looking to build a grinding machine capable of producing a 25-30" mirror.

when built I will start small with a 6" blank..to get some glass/pyrex experience. (I have a 10" dob now so there is no rush for this project.)

I did find a double machine capable of a 12 or 14" mirror.and wondered if I would need more power?

In the double grinder he used a 1/4 hp elec motor..connected to a 20:1 gear-box..and still further reduced the RPM by the use of pullies

Will this motor be sufficient to turn a 30" piece of glass?
