Telescopes are like cars. You can`t get everything in one of them either so you are going to be buying several different scopes over your life. First is to drop by the local club`s starparty and look at the scopes there. You will probably find a few dobs, a few GoTo SCT types, some other Newtonians on various mounts and maybe even somebody with a refractor. You will also probably see the different ways of finding objects with the GoTo, DSC and poking about with starhopping and maybe even somebody that uses the old setting circles. Ask the guys how much they like the scope and what it`s like operating it and you will get some good answers (usually) and get a whole lot more info on scopes and how they work. After a few nights out with the club (might as well join it to get access to the club site) you will have a much better idea of what you want in a first scope.
