Yes that is a wise Idea.

One of the best richfield scopes I have seen was made with Jaeger`s Cemented 5" f:5 and a 2" 40mm Erfle. It was owned by a telescope tech. on Palomar Mtn. 30 yrs ago. Jaegers was the best source for optical surplus and unlike most every one today, if they said it was good, it was. I don`t know of anybody having complaints with the Jeager`s Refractors and I kick myself for not buying some when I could. Actually I did buy one from a Norman Butler, a 6" f:15 but he never delivered it and while I waited the Jaegers price just kept rising.

If it is in stock condition, it should be very good for widefield viewing. Even so only you can know if that is what you want.

If anybody knows Norm (former SDAA president), tell him I am still waiting for my 6" achromat.

Have Fun,
-Rick
