Based on my personal experience with a full thickness 10" mirror, I would say that three healthy blobs of the silicone adhesive would work ok. I am amazed at just how tough, durable, and strong that stuff is. I won`t swear to it, but I believe I read somewhere recently that said a 12" mirror was about the recommended limit to use the silicone adhesive. Factors to consider are how much does/will the tube be in a horizontal position? How much "jostling" will the tube/cell be subjected to? Personally, I`d go for it!
