German Equatorial Mount Design

I intend to build a german equatorial mount suitable for astrophotography with an 8" to 12" newtonian or 4" to 6" refractor. I have a precision 8" worm drive to contribute. I also have a friend who is a fitter and turner specialising in astronomical instruments for observatories who is willing to machine the parts.

Does anyone know where I can lay my hands on a good german equatorial mount design, including details relevant to astrophotography such as fitting of slewing motors etc.
