If You have not purchased encoders yet I would suggest that you consider US Digital`s T2 inclinometer for the altitude bearing-webpage http://www.usdigital.com/products/t2/
This product can be mounted on the altitude bearing and requires no mechanical connection to the base. Just set the tube in the base, plug it in and you are ready to go. This setup eliminates all stress and slipage and can be purchased at 7200 codes/rev. I find this setup puts objects in the field of veiw at 60 power using the Ouranos interface with my laptop.
