A fair number of people have learned already that laminating glass together just doesn`t work. Since you want a 12" then just order a piece of 1" thick glass and that will do quite good enough as it`s only half thickness compared to the "standard" amateur thickness. You will have to be a bit more aware of astigmitism popping up in the grinding but that`s no problem. FWIW, I have a 15" piece of glass coming that`s 1" thick and that won`t be a problem either.
Gluing glass together has run into problems with the temp changes as the glass is worked and used in the field. Rigid glues will delaminate from the temp extremes and the fluid glues won`t hold the shape well enough from the temp changes and you won`t have a good mirror.
BTW, the 15" square is $110 and I do need to round it off and I`ll do that on my Mirr-O-Matic machine before grinding it.
