RE: Foucault Tester With Bad Eye Relief!

The F1.1 cone is so wide that the Foucault test becomes extremely hard to do. Better to setup a wire test which is a slit about .003" wide and a wire above it of about .003"-.004" to test the mirror. You will see a circle on the mirror at a radius of darkness with this method. Reduce the data just like the Foucault test but you don`t need a couder mask unless you want to. Just place the wire`s shadow at the various points which relate to the center of the zone you are interested in and you will get better results. You might also want to use a little security camera to get a better view of the test. You need to use a lens (you don`t even need an acromat with this test if your light is sort of monochromatic) which will show the entire mirror on the monitor`s screen. |
