Dobs are nice in that you don`t do andy alignments for use. However, if you have some electronics and software moving the scope that need to know where it is pointing, then you need to follow the instructions for the software to do the pointing. In that case, you also need to make sure that the two axises are orthagonal to each other. Just pushing a Az/Alt type scope around (even with motors) doesn`t need any special alignments per se.
