: : Hi. How do I build a Newtonian Telescope? There are a number of great books on the subject. Buy one! The Frenchman's book is probably the best for the basic work of doing the optics.

The "Frenchman" mentioned is most likely MSR Jean Texereau. I read his book last summer after winning a 6" mirror kit from Newport Glassworks. I have not begun grinding but his book was easy to follow and seemed to have a lot of sound advice in it. The translation to english was very well done. Don't get put off by the copyright date - the physics of mirror optics has not changed *smile*. Hope this helps- the original post seemed a little blunt.
