Hello Charlie, I have built many telescopes in the past (never a refractor) and have been bitten by aperture fever before. I have built a 12.25 reflector that worked well, but too big to lug around. After I had my aperture fever shots I settled with an 8" Dobs and my new 6" refractor. Building scopes is alot of fun and very rewarding. Good Luck in the future and welcome to ATM.
