: Forget the Magellan. Spend a little more and get one of the units made by Tangent Instruments (Celestron-Advanced Astro Master, JMI-NGC Max, Lumicon-Sky Vector, Orion-Sky Wizard etc). They can all be easily adapted to anything and the vendors don't have an attitude problem.

Can you be more specific about problems with the meade or features which make the other products better ? the products you suggest sell for a 30% or greater premium over the meade for equivalent or lesser specs. (yes, I know they are mostly empty specs based on databases containing many invisible objects)

Funds unlimited, my first choice would be the sky commander which is not a tangent product.

but why not a magellan plus a Televue 32mm plossl for the same price ?

...help me make an informed decision
