The typical way is to use a pipe of the correct diameter (the hole is going to be bigger than the pipe) and using grit, start grinding a hole into the glass. Do most of the hole from the back and then finish up on the front. You put a dam of something (putty is usually mentioned) and be sure that you don't scratch the finished mirror! The Ingalls ATM books give a nice description of exactly how to do this. |
