Yes you can. I did to raise my focal plane 1" higher to reach prime focus during photography. If it is easier to move the mirror do that, if not, cut a new focuser hole. You want to be at least an .5" above the racked-in point on your focuser. Common mistake. I did it once too. Good luck!!
