: When cold pressing my pitch lap onto my mirror, it got stuck! I can't budge it. I have tried to slide it off, I tried gentle taps with a rubber mallet but it is still stuck. I am currently soaking it in a lukewarm water bath trying to re-hydrate any "releasing" agent that may be dry. I used a solution of water and polishing agent as a suggested releasing agent in the Texereau book. : What did I do wrong and how can I separate the mirror from the tool. If they're stillstuck put then in a deep freezer and the pitch should separate. Also next time you cold press use some plastic cling wrap (the clear stuff used to wrap food) on the pitch. This will prevent the bare glass from sticking to the pitch. |
