For anyone else who may read this, another option on a truss type Dob is to shorten the poles. This would also move the focal point - similar to moving the mirror up or the secondary / focuser back. This one and the last option are rather permanent modifications. ie: trimmed poles cannot be re-extended later.. (measure once, cut twice!)

I`m going with moving the mirror because I can always put it back where it was. So if someday I upgrade focusers or whathaveyou, I have more flexibility in terms of easy restoration or re-modification. Just some thoughts...

Doing it this weekend - will advise how it goes / results I get. Thanks again Kip for the train of thought...
