Field Rotation

Ok, so these are pretty basic.. At least we`re keeping the forum active... ;-)

Here`s one: I remember reading that the length of time exposure, even guided, for a Dobsonian mount is limited due to the inevitable field rotation that will occur. (The stars "move" in an arc, but the mount holds the eyepiece / camera in a fixed position - hence "field rotation" problem. Will get trails eventually no matter what you do..)

Does anyone know about how long that is? I realize there`s a difference at various elevations - but ballpark would be interesting to start considering. Thanks
