Hi there,
You're absolutely right! Tech Pan film was one of the best films for astro photography. I LOVE Tech-Pan film...I think it produces great quality pictures. (Very little grain)
Unfortunately, I am having a hard time trying to find people to develop my Tech-Pan film, so, I kinda stopped using it. I have 3 rolls of it all "ready to go" for developing, and still have a new roll in the refrigerator...Just can't find anyone to develop it. Even my local camera shop won't do it anymore....
I was told that the Tech Pan film requires different emulsions than your standard "run of the mill" B&W film emulsions, and for that reason (Kodak included) will not develop Tech Pan anymore.
Personally, I'm not a fan of the whole "CCD thing" ...I'm VERY "old school". I still love using my old Minolta SRT-SC...Easy to use, no computers required, no wires, none of that garbage...
I was using Kodak MAX (color film) for a while...it's a good film, and Fuji has some good films too.
