I have my eyes on a CCD camera from SBIG, however I am interested in getting a high end SLR digital back, such as the Canon D60. Because the camera, and lens available for the camera, can be somewhat costly, I wonder how well this type of camera will perform for long-expoure astrophotography. I plan to be close to a power outlet as I capture images, so I am not too concerned with its power requirment, and since one images is 6 mexapixels, I will connect via USB to the computer to capture uncompressed images.

Any input or advice will be appreciated.
