Help Using Kodak DC290

Can anyone out there help me to get some better results from my Kodak DC290?

I'm using an Orion StarMax 127mm Mak-Cas scope on an EQ-3 mount. I seem to be having a difficult time controlling exposure. For the moon I'm having to leave it on auto (w/Flash) and it seems to do pretty well. For planets, the exposure seems to be too short so I use the 1/2 second exposure which seems to be too long.

Should I set the camera up like I'm using an external flash (which should fix the shutter speed) then use the aperture adjustment to control exposure? Is there something I'm missing that will allow more control of exposure?

You can see a couple of my pictures at

Thanks,
Forrest
