From my experience with the Cambodians I sponsored in Lexington, MA, some of whom were able to talk with their deceased ancesters, and from my own experience talking to a deceased person through a channel, I would claim that Joe simply talked with his father after his father's death and found out what exists in the supernatural world that way.

Such evidence for a supernatural world is subjective, and second hand in the Cambodian case; but the evidence is so powerful on a personal level that there is no space for agnosticism.
