Astronomers,

Please help.

BACKGROUND: I have used a Meade 6-inch f/8 reflector for 20 years and have decided that it is time to give this scope to a young family member and purchase a new one. I have enjoyed hunting down the messier objects and showing friends the planets, but I have grown tired of talking about gray fuzzy balls (the scope is in alignment) and I am looking for a better view and something to use to hunt down the fainter objects. I view from suburbia Cincinnati, Ohio and travel to clear(er) spots in the mid-west.

THE DELIMA I am aware of most of the advantages and disadvantages of reflectors versus Schmidt-Cassegrains from reading, such as transportability, dew, alignment issues, width of view, etc. The problem is that I have only looked through a Schmidt-Cassegrains scope once or twice. What are the viewing difference say between a 10-inch reflector f/4.5 (equatorial mount) and a 10-inch Cass f/10 or f/6.3.
