Im planning to build a vacuum coating system for thin film deposition of aluminum on telescope mirrors,so far i have a small diffusion pump, and an old glass water bottle which i plan to cut the bottom out of for use as the bell jar.
I have a pretty good idea how to build this thing
however i have a few questions that hopefully someone can answer,
1)can a refridgeration service pump be used as the backing/roughing pump ,one that produces say
0.0001 torr.
2)at what level of vacuum(in torrs)is required for vaporizing aluminum from tungsten coil.
3)
